Share the Love Contest Winners 2011

Love means different things to different people. Sometimes it happens between a man and a woman, two men, or even two women. We at the Share the Love Contest believe that love doesn’t have to be restricted to two people alone. We asked for your threesomes or foursomes, slash or bisexual, AH or AU, and we were pleased to see that so many writers shared our love of.... love.

And now without further ado.

The Winners of the Share the Love Contest are...

Photobucket

Best Representation of Sharing Love

Beloved by Zoya Zalan.

There could not be a more aptly named fic, and, for me, this was the perfect example of an extrapolation of canon into polyamory. I’ve always wondered what would have happened if, when Carlisle found Esme, he was able to allow his love to expand to encompass both her and Edward, and Zoya Zalan does a masterful job of giving me exactly what I want. The characters are beautifully canon, Edward is brooding, emo, sweet, and introspective as he considers leaving Carlisle and Esme to their wedded bliss, even as a part of himself aches to feel that type of passion and mourns for the brief intimacy he’d known while it had just been he and Carlisle.

Edward’s vulnerability and self loathing are palpable as Carlisle and Esme confront him with their fear of his imminent departure, and then... something wonderful happens. Instead of Edward leaving them, they reveal that their desires include him, and a beautiful romance follows. I truly felt the love between these three characters bloom as it grew to encompass all of them, and the passion blew me away.

Best Alternate Universe

Beloved by Zoya Zalan.

Writing Poly love isn’t easy, but setting within the confines of Twilight canon is even more difficult. Zoya Zalan made it look effortless and logical. This story fits perfectly into the circumstances that surrounded Esme’s making and what (in canon) led to Edward leaving the Cullens for a time (aka his rebellious period). Many have wondered what motivated Edward to leave, but it took the creative mind of Zoya Zalan to ask what would have stopped him from leaving. Within the beautiful, lyrical proses of Beloved we are given that answer.

Best All Human

Catching the Train and jenjiveg

Catching the Train is as clever as it is entrancing. Telling a story of a seemingly mundane day on a commuter train. Here the three players are as different as three people can be, a businessman, a student and an editor (it would spoil the fun to tell you who is who). Despite their differences we find through the twist and turns of the story that love really truly unites all. This story is unique, intriguing and profoundly erotic.

Kama Sutra Award (Most Creative Sex)

V and MeteorMuse

When we decided to host this contest we hope that some brave soul would venture out of the safety of threesomes and MeteorMuse answered our prayers with V. While this type of relationship is unconventional by even most poly readers’ standards within this story we are shown how very fulfilling it can be for those involved. Bella has harbored a crush on her coworker, Jasper for quite awhile and is willing to do just about anything to get into a relationship with him. This is put to the test when Jasper reveals the nature of his relationship with his ‘roommates’ and explains how that will effect his relationship with her. Now she has to decide just how badly she wants Jasper.

V earns it’s award in the climax of the story, when Bella sees up-close how these roommates make their relationship work. All I can say is that is one big couch.

Special Awards

Most contest do judges’ choice and we didn’t want to miss out on the fun, but we also wanted to put our own twist on it so here are the winners of the Poly I’d Love to Join awards.

Photobucket
Three meant to Be by luvrofink

It’s no surprise that the poly I’d like to join has a wicked-sexy Dr. Carlisle Cullen as a leading man. This fic hit all my warm and squirmy places, as well as my heart. I loved that Bella and Carlisle were such a solid couple and the way they supported each other and their attraction for Edward, and stood in solidarity that the experience they were about to share needed to be based on equal mutual attraction. So refreshing to see this avenue explored with a more experienced couple.

This had everything I wanted: vulnerability, boldness, and panty-melting sex.

Photobucket
No Right Or Wrong by Dooba

I loved how comfortable they all three felt with each other from the very beginning. There is great chemistry but also true friendship. I'd like to join this poly because of these traits (comfort and friendship) but the smokin' hot sex doesn't hurt either!

Photobucket
Beloved by Zoya Zalan.

The unconditional loving compassionate support within that group, gah! I want and need that so badly it makes my heart hurt. To be held, loved, and embraced that way? Heaven.

Photobucket
Catching the Train and jenjiveg

Why would you want to join Catching the Train? Edward and Jasper go down on Bella *together* -- need I say more?

Okay, the truth is, this fic is beyond sex. The way the author layers the characters and their distinct and unique qualities is beautiful. Everyone unfolds before your very eyes, the details of their time together slowly revealing themselves.

These three are unique, but you completely understand why they work all together. The author shows us exactly how hot and sexy they are, but what really got me were the details of their growth and time together. Bella gives the boys space to enjoy together, but when they ask her to sometimes join them, you get a great sense of their relationships separately as well as the three of them as a unit, which I always think is essential to a working poly relationship.

Yes, please.

The main purpose of the contest was to inspire talented writers to venture into the world of Poly fic and judging by the wonderful entries we received it was a wild success. However, we are greedy and we still want more. So this is not the last you’ve heard of Share the Love. While it may not be in the incarnation of a contest, it will be back.

So, make sure follow the Sharetheloveff Twitter account and the SharetheLoveFF Tumblr account for inspiration and news on future fic challenges. Also, if you’re still craving Poly fic after reading the entries follow the Share the Love C2, we will continue updating it regular with new (and new to us) Poly fic as we find it.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all the participants. We hope to see you all again for future Share the Love fic events.

Love Ignited
by
MrsAC

Two high school sweethearts, one long year apart, and plenty of changes in between.

There were a lot of stories that were entered into the contest, and there were several that I loved (*cough Semper Fidelis and The Possibility of You cough*), but when I read Love Ignited, I knew I had my judge's choice. There is almost literally nothing hotter to me than a Daddy-to-be that's happy to be one (except maybe an already Daddy). There is something about the way they look at the woman carrying their child that makes me melt.

The first part of this o/s is heart-jerking, that's for sure. And especially when we get to the part where Bella puts the phone up to her belly at Edward's request and she can hear him talking to the baby. Yep, I cried. A lot. That completely melted me, and I was sold from that point on as this being my favorite Edward of the contest.

The reunion was sweet and meaningful, yet understated. The same could be said for the sexy times she put in this fic. All in all, this was a warm-your-heart kind of fic and I loved every minute of it.

Burn
by
vixen1836

After years of war and unrequited love, an Infantryman returns from the front, reuniting with the only girl he ever wanted.

I was so ruddy thrilled when the emails started bouncing around for our inaugural PPSS competition and the fact that our first competition was going to focus on ArmyWard? Phwoar. YES PLEASE! :)

I read everyone of our contest entries and was so pleased that people wrote such a diverse & interesting range of stories. All with passion and a genuine love for the men and women that serve us..

Burn - by Vixen1836 crawled into my heart and set it alight with a small glow of burning embers, staying there long after I had finished reading it. What I loved most about this story was the style it was written in. The whole piece had a feel as I read it very much of a faded and treasured photograph. Read it again, and see if you understand what I mean. . . . Vixen nailed the reflective feel and warm tint a vintage photograph has in her writing and permeated the whole of Burn with it. Its exquisite writing. I believed in Edward's fixation on Bella in the trenches. His focus on her rather than the terror, despair, misery and pain all around him. Instead of focusing on all that he took refuge in the memory of Bella deep in his mind. She was his sanctuary and only figure of hope in a time without light. The natural step for him on his return is to try and find her. To explore whether his mind was purely fantasy of if there is more there, if his heart and soul had been speaking to him all that time. How will Bella react to him? In a time of war did she ever think of that Copper-headed soldier sent to the front-line far away? Did their lack of friendship prevent her of thinking of him too? I am not going to spoil this gorgeous fic for you by telling you what happens to our returning hero and the secret girl of our dreams. Read it, be moved and stirred and indulge the history this gem evokes. (I want to go buy a tea-dress and accessorise it with my vintage red lipstick in 'Burn's' honour!) like that beautiful photograph you will want to re-learn (read) it and treasure it, keep it safe and share it with others. Thank you Vixen, this fic really spoke to me and left a precious picture in my mind. Emmy. xx

Fortune Favors the Bold
by
CapriciousC

Major Edward Masen is a former Air Force Thunderbird, decorated fighter pilot, and a war hero. A guy like that would never go for a girl like MIT engineer Bella Swan. Or would he?

I have a little thing for men in uniform. No really, I do, I married a Marine for criminy sake. But more than the uniform itself, is everything that the uniform stands for and represents. It's not just a uniform; it's a way of life, a commitment to something greater than one's self and a need to serve and protect those they stand up for.

There were several stories that I absolutely loved, making my choice was a hard one. I picked Fortune Favors the Bold by capriciousC as my pick because I loved the setting of the story and the UST between Edward and Bella. Bella is witty, smart and has a backbone, while being real and likable. Edward is charming and somewhat elusive. The chemistry between them is undeniable. Also the use of secondary characters was really well done. Besides who wouldn't want to be confined to a small, dark space with the one they want for 5 hours? Not me! And also there's just something about a Jet Fighter Pilot. Must have something to do with my Top Gun obsession. I hope capriciousC continues this story.

Bella helps Edward through an exceptionally rough day at work. This story is dedicated to all the hard working, brave men and women who risk everything on a daily basis.

It can be tough to read, because of the reality of it – Edward is a firefighter and a young girl has died in a fire on his shift – but that's precisely what I loved about it. His grief felt real to me, the way he beat himself up over his perceived failure. I liked the twist with Fire Chief Swan and his backstory, leading to more of Edward's anxiety.

Most of this piece is a conversation between Edward and Bella (in the shower!), ranging from his guilt about the fire to the state of things in their marriage; there are a few comparisons to how things used to be, etc. and I really just loved it. I love the idea of them in 10 years, just as happy as they were when they got married, even if it's happy in a different way. The banter reminds me a little of my own marriage at times, and did I mention there's a lovely section of DTE? Yum.

Alice (Edward's sister) appears at the end, and I really also loved the relationship between A & E and their banter. The way Edward interacts with his daughter and niece had me giggling.

Yeah, the last line totally killed me and made me bawl, but that's pretty par for the course with me.

A World Away
by
WandB

Bella thinks military men are arrogant womanizers. That is, until she meets Edward, a hot and unpredictable Navy SEAL who quickly deploys for six months. Will their relationship flourish or flush?

I've always liked Marines. Woof. Imagine my surprise when out of all the entries I picked a Naval themed one-shot! "A World Away" from wandb was a sweet and genuine look at the lives of people separated by circumstance. One of the main things I liked about it was that they weren't 'together' before he shipped off. They were unsure as to where they stood in regard to their relationship, were they friends or did they both want more? They got to know each other through emails during his time abroad, him on a ship with lots of other Navy sailors, hot, sweaty, nekkid... what?

In all sincerity though, I appreciated that she didn't just have them go at it, him leave, come back and boom... they're automatically in love. Giving them the time to form a relationship while separated added to the emotion of their reuniting. I thought the smut was perfect in relation to the rest of the story and ultimately I thought she did a great job.

I still like Marines but Seamen are a close second. Hehehehe :)

Sincerely, Edward
by
Holly1980

Their love grew over a series of letters exchanged while he was deployed to Afghanistan. He's coming home and there is no other place she'd rather be than waiting for him.

I have gone with Sincerely, Edward as my pick. There was something about this story that just grabbed me and pulled me right in. The fact that they'd gone to school together, but not known each other before they met was fun beginning. I love that they had that instant connection between them and spent that whole first night just talking. My heart broke at what happened to their lunch date and how horrible they both must have felt. Bella for being stood up, and Edward for having to do so unwillingly but with no way to get in touch with her. The fact that he took the time to write to Bella and apologize says so much about the kind of person he is. I adore the fact that they got to know each other through letters. In this day and age it's such an old-fashioned way to do things, but look how well it worked out for them. They fell in love. And not just love, but a forever kind of love. This story was just all around touching and beautiful and it made me teary-eyed more than once. Beautifully done. Not to mention I would absolutely love to read the letters the author mentions in her note as being real. Sigh.

The Possibility of You
by
afragilelittlehuman

Lieutenant Edward Cullen is a dedicated fireman, but, when a new probie joins his crew, he struggles to keep things professional. Will he be able to keep himself in check or lose his heart to the possibility of love?

Reading through the entries for this contest I realized how many great authors there are. There were a lot of great o/s and it made choosing really hard for me. Still, reading through them all was a pleasure. My pick is The Possibility of You by afragilelittlehuman. This o/s has not only FireWard but Firella as well. What I really enjoyed was having a Bella who was treated as an equal, regardless of sex or sexiness...though that didn't keep the guys from fantasizing about her sliding down the fire pole. Being employed as a fire fighter equals tough situations and loss of lives; some unknown and some friends. There is an especially hard part when Edward wants to comfort Bella after the death of men from a nearby firehouse...but can't due to the circumstance. I could feel how difficult it was for Edward to deny his desire to help a woman he was no longer just "in lust" with but had deeper feelings for. Besides being realistic with the day to day life of fire fighters, afragilelittlehuman wrote the UST so well that I was dying with the wait for them to get together. Her Edward is sexy in his uniform, all sweaty and dirty. Her Bella is tough yet still feminine. And the smut? Well, I'll just say you need to read it to appreciate it. I could definitely go for more of this to see how a relationship will work out between two people who risk their lives at work on a daily basis.

Thanks again to all the entered stories, read, voted, retweeted and made this contest so much fun for all of us!

And the "Love for the Unloved" winners are....

We came up with the idea for the "Love for the Unloved" contest over twitter during early summer, because we both expressed frustration in finding that the Cullens' and Jacob are usually the focus of stories in the Twilight fandom. By dreaming up this contest, we wanted to prompt authors to highlight a B-lister character in hopes we would get some interesting stories that have not been regularly seen thus far in Twi fan fiction.

The awesome authors who entered this contest met and surpassed our goal to highlight and bring love to the B-listers. The 33 contest entries, which in total featured 28 different B-listers, cast light on the Volturi, wolves, non-Cullen Vampire clans, Forks townies, and other students/faculty at Fork's high school.

It was a joy getting to see the B-listers' points of view, and seeing authors describe their back stories, motives, and desires. It appears many of you enjoyed these stories as well, as evident by the reviews, contest polling, and comments that have been shared with the judges or on the twilighted thread.

We want to thank everyone who entered this contest for challenging yourselves to think outside the 'norm' of our fandom. It was very difficult to make our final decisions for the contest, but please know we appreciated every entry! We encourage everyone to check out the C2 community and read all of the entries. Special thanks to our additional judges: mozzer0906, siouxchef, and ejsantry. They were the dream team!

xoxo

And now the winners are....

Reader’s Poll Winner:
Feel Me by TwiSherry

The readers voted and have picked a winner. Mrs. Cope gets some loving and a heartbreaking back story in this fic.

Best Overall Winner (judges pick):
Dazzling by onePushyFox

Dazzling is the judges' pick for Best Overall story because we loved the way onePushyFox built her story into the canon time-line, creating a plausible back story for Kate and Garrett. This story is well thought out and flows well between the past and present. The author expanded on the little bit of back story given on the Denali sisters to create a lush and deep past, showing how much they had changed from then to now. Dazzling completely encompassed the spirit of the contest by delivering a beautiful tale of lust and eventually, love. It showed us glimpses of Breaking Dawn from a different perspective, by focusing on characters which were merely set dressing in Meyer's book. The lemon is hot, as is the chemistry between Kate and Garrett.

Luscious Lemon Winner:
Chemistry of a Car Crash by Dahlia J Black

Most of us have been there. You have a crush, and you just can't get that person out of your mind. Being close to them makes your heart beat faster, and you over analyze every word, every small action. Daydreams are consumed with fiery hot, first kisses and more. In Chemistry of a Car Crash, Dahlia J Black tells the story of Angela Weber, a girl in her early 20's working at a university with the object of her desires, Seth Clearwater. Both of them are in other relationships that are on their way out. Angela is eager to fully embrace adulthood by busting out of her shell and experiencing all that life has to offer. She also hopes this includes experiencing Seth as well. It's obvious that they get together, otherwise there wouldn't be a luscious lemon, but getting there is very much a part of the fun! The sexual tension builds up throughout the story and will have you screaming out "yes...yes...YES" by the end. Dahlia's lemon was citri-licious and a clear choice for the judges' pick. She is a fairly new author, and we are eager to see what else she has to offer in the fandom. Hopefully, there are more 'M' rated fics in her future!

Cherry Popper Winner:
A Slow Burn by sweetp-1

A Slow Burn is beautifully written, plain and simple. The 3rd person narrative, not often seen in the fandom, is very well done. While the reader is a mere watcher to the events, we feel what Angela is feeling; her anxiety, her homesickness, her attraction to her lab partner, and the longing she feels for him. This story isn’t bogged down in minute details, but the ones given completely immerse the reader into the world of the characters. The style is flowy and somewhat flowery, but it doesn’t detract from the story, only enhances it. The lemon is beautifully written and worded. It’s not about the action, but what the character is feeling and experiencing. Sweetp-1 has a natural talent for writing, and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the fandom in the future.

EJ Santry’s Pick:
Begin Again by herinfiniteeyes

I love Bagel Ben!!! Now that I got that off my chest, I can tell you why else I enjoyed "Begin Again". This is a story of Angela, who got pregnant while she was still in high school. We meet her eight years later, a hard working single mom and getting ready for her daughter's upcoming weekend. She has been single for quite a while, and secretly crushes on local bakery owner, Ben Cheney. They have been flirting on and off for a year, and Angela's match making mother, has been encouraging her to hint for more. The story comes to a head when Angela's daughter begs her mother to invite Ben to her birthday party. The invitation and conversation happens as Angela and her daughter stop at Ben's bakery before they start their day. My favorite line in the story happens during this meeting when Ben winks at Angela, and Angela's "...vagina hit the floor in shock."

Some drama ensues when Ben mentions he is bringing a girl to the party. Turns out that the girl is his niece, not a date. After super star Ben, helps with the entire party making it a huge success, Angela's mom forces Angela's hand a bit by taking the girls out to get ice cream after the party is over. Needless to say, our lovers finally find their way to bed. This lemon was not the hottest lemon I ever read, but I loved it, because it was real. The bed squeaks. A four year celebete Angela hurts when endowed Ben pushes into her. Finally, not much post-coital bliss, because the kids will be home soon. A dose of reality is refreshing from time to time. This story was sweet, funny, and a real tale of real people learning to trust and love.

FloridaChickie’s Pick:
War of Attrition by swill122

I was blown away by swill112's LFTU entry, War of Attrition. The author presents a sassy (rather canon) Jessica, who is still inexperienced when it comes to sex. She's not a virgin, but good ol' Mike is naive in the art of making Jessica sing his name in the bedroom. We find the couple spending their last weeks in Forks before moving to different colleges far away from one another. Since Mike has yet to give Jessica the big O, she's afraid she is incapable and not "normal." Rather than being concerned about any long term relationship prospects with Mike, Jessica is nervous about how she might be when having sex with college boys in the very near future. As Jessica tries to take charge of her sexuality before school starts, swill112 walks us through some painfully awkward sexual encounters with these two (think two pump humps), that culminates on the evening of Bella and Edward's wedding. The story's final lemon is unlike any other sexual scene I have read in Twi fiction and highlights swill112's writing brilliance. I don't want to give it away, so go read this gem now. Plus, the last line of the story is freakin' priceless.

manyafandom’s Pick:
The Hunt by rhombica dodecahedron

I was astounded that this was written by a first time writer when I read this story. The narrative and prose used are unique and hauntingly beautiful. This is the tale of Victoria and James, as she awakens alone with no memory of her former life or understanding of what she has become. Following through her adjusting and embracing her vampiric nature. It’s not dark and sinister as one would expect given the pairing but thrilling, beautiful and maybe a little bit romantic. The way the author tells the story is almost poetic, but doesn’t get bogged down in the verbiage.

Mozzer0906’s Pick:
In the Name of Science by crackbabby

I picked this fic as my Judge’s Choice because it was so different from every other fic we received. The author went with a crackfic. Not just a crackfic, but a slash crackfic with a Dating Game style round to determine who the lucky Cullen is going to be. The Dating Game poked fun at so many of the canon characterizations by the end I was crying with laughter. This is a great light and funny one-shot that will put you in a good mood by the end of it. I tip my hat to the author for going a different route for this contest and I wanted to spread the word about this hilarious crackslash.

Siouxchef’s Pick:
Jane by algonquinrt

I loved this one. She is seen as such a sinister character in the books, I enjoyed seeing her having some deeper feelings. I liked the hint of what could have been the reason for her and Alec's turning. It created many questions in my mind as to when they were created, what could have happened and that is a mark of a good fic in my book. Her youth came through in her actions and internal dialog, showing the frustration of early puberty. I enjoyed the intense emotion of this fic very much.

Thanks again for all the support!

D.I.L.F. Winners

Photobucket <--HeatherDawn

First, I'd like to thank every single person that entered, from the seasoned writers to the freshman authors that chose this contest to get their feet wet. I was expecting a handful of entries, not over forty.

So, for that I am grateful.

A huge thank you to everyone that voted, and especially to the judges who agreed to help, the fantastically delightful Pippapear, Gemmabobella the sweetheart extraordinaire and the glorious and lovely LolaShoes.

The public vote winners are as follows, a huge thank you to Hope aka Manyfandom for helping my technotarded ass by making all the banners. Thank you Hopey.

Without anymore rambling from me I give you the D.I.L.F. winners.

2nd Place with 205 Votes "Only You Can Save Me" by Kyla713

3rd Place with 204 Votes "Unplanned" by Jennde

4th Place with 192 Votes "Moths to a Flame" by Nan McCullen

5th Place with 180 Votes "Rings & Porch Swings" by FiberKitty

The judges each picked their individual winners...

Gemma's choice for #1 D.I.L.F

Emmy's choice for #1 D.I.L.F.

"Only You Can Save Me" by Kyla713

"Settling" by TheLadyintheGrey42

So, here's the thing. I couldn't pick one winner for my choice. Since it
is technically my contest I decided to pick four winners though honestly? I'd pick them all.

I'll preface the first winner with the following explanation. I don't read AU where the vamps cheat on each other or are non-canon. Apparently, I'm a blazing hypocrite when it comes to one-shots because the following I read twice and seriously went cross-eyed. Yeah, Nina liked it that fucking much. Fucking Hot Bitch gets me every time!

Nina's choice for D.I.L.F. story that goes against everything I read (though I'll say I enjoyed this tremendously) "The Hummer" by Marbarberella

Jesus, Mary, Joseph and Ringo. You know a story is good when you've got to go back and read it again because you're CONVINCED you missed the fucking breadcrumb clues that had to have been left. Yeah, she left no clues. She crafted this fucking gem so well that it stumped EVERYONE that read it. Good on you babes.

Nina's choice for D.I.L.F. story that shocked the ever loving shit out of me

It's not that I hate Esme, okay yes it is. I hate her. Only because she gets to bone Carlisle. Fuck off. That being said, it takes A LOT for me to tolerate her in a story that doesn't have her resting peacefully in dust form in a fucking urn. Congrats AddisonJ, you've succeeded in not only not making me hate her, but actually like the character. IN THIS ONE SHOT ONLY.

Nina's choice for D.I.L.F. story that made me not hate Esme (which is an EXTREMELY hard thing to accomplish) The Best Worst First Date Ever by AddisonJ

Sooooo, funny story about the following one-shot. Much like I have the (now defunct bullshit) rule about AU non-canon, Algie has a rule as well that she even listed in her profile. Well, my love for Algie knows no bounds because not only did she break a rule for me, but she also got flamed for it via cunty (Yes Lola, it is a real word) review. So for that, I humbly thankee Algie my love for Wood.

Nina's choice for D.I.L.F. author that went out of their comfort zone to write me something hot.

In closing, I'd just like to reiterate my humble thanks to all that submitted their stories. I honestly hope that they're continued and when you do, please let me know. ninapolitan@pervpackssmutshack.com

Also, with all the fandom wank and fuckery lately, I'd like to say.

Vive la Fandom! Support the writers & appreciate the readers!
