That Thing Called Love O/S Contest - ends 10/22/09
Love, it touches us all in some way, shape or form. Whether it be romantic love, brotherly/sisterly love, parental love or platonic love, we've all given and received it at some point in our lives. How do you show someone how much you love them? Do you extend an estranged brother or sister forgiveness? Do you give up one of your dreams so your child can follow theirs? Do you take a less fortunate friend on the vacation of a lifetime because you know they'd never be able to experience it otherwise? Do you let the love of your life go so that she can give herself to hers?
We want to know what your idea of the greatest expression of love is, and here's your chance to flex those brain muscles, and let that love and creativity flow. There's only one expression of love you cannot include: Sex.
All one-shots must be free of sex, intercourse, lovemaking, insertions of tabs into any slots, and so on and so forth. There can be no fondling of breasts, no hand jobs, no oral, and no nudity whatsoever. No mentions of hardened cocks or wet pussies, or how much one character is aroused. No touching of genitals through clothing. No grinding. No lemons. No limes. No orgasms. No dry-humping. Kissing on the mouth is as racy as you can get (leg hitches are allowed), and yes we know we sound like your parents.
Sound difficult? To some it will be. But you can do it, we know you can.

This contest is open to everyone. Please be sure to read the rules below as well as the Entry Information. Not following the rules/procedures will disqualify you.
1. Your O/S must be free of any of the activities listed above. Don't try to find loopholes, please. Be creative and show people loving each other without being physically intimate -that's the point of this contest.
2. All pairings accepted, and your entry can be AU or AH.
3. There is a 5,000 word minimum, and a 15,000 word maximum. Any entry not meeting these qualifications will be omitted from judging.
4. Collaborations are allowed.
5. You can enter as many times as you'd like.

THIS CONTEST WILL BE JUDGED ANONYMOUSLY - BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE RULES BELOW
1. To enter, you must send your O/S in an email or attachment to thatthingcalledlovecontest (at) gmail (dot) com before 11:59PM EST on October 22, 2009. The subject of your email must be in the following format: STORY TITLE - PEN NAME
2. The entries will be stripped of all identifying information and distributed to the judges on October 23, 2009. The person distributing the entries for judging will not be a judge - at no point will a judge know which one shot belongs to which author.
3. Judges will narrow the entries down to five (5) finalists for each category (Best Romantic Love, Best Platonic Love, and Best Familial Love), which will then be posted to our profile and put up for an anonymous vote by the public on November 5, 2009. Because of our desire for anonymity and fairness in judging, you may not post your entry to your FF profile until after the winner has been announced. We will be checking, and doing so will disqualify you.
4. The O/S must be original to this contest. It cannot be an outtake from a current fic, although it may be continued once the contest is over.
5. Spelling and grammar will be taken into consideration, so please make sure yours are correct!
The stories will be judged using a point system (1-10 points for each category, for a possible total of 40 points) based on the following: story concept, characterization and plot development, grammar and spelling, and success in portraying the reason and feeling behind the expressions of love portrayed in the submission. Score sheets will be kept for each participant, and will be available for review upon entrant's request.
WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON NOVEMBER 15, 2009

Was it Mrs. Peacock in the library with a rope? Or maybe Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with the revolver? Perhaps it was Edward Cullen in the parking lot with the Volvo? Everyone loves the mystery of murder, so how about a murder mystery? Feel free to go a little wild with this, use past murders as inspiration, or come up with your own sick and twisted idea!
The Evidence Bin:
- Story must have both murder AND mystery.
- Lemons are acceptable as long as they tie in to the story.
- Must have at least one Twilight character and any pairings are accepted.
- Entries may be canon, AU, or AH and may be of any genre (even crackfic as long as you can make murder and mystery humorous).
- Entries must be rated M (there IS a murder after all).

Entries will be validated for quality grammar/punctuation and rules compliance when the entry is submitted. After an entry has been validated it will be added to the “Whodunit” C2. Authors will be notified when their entries have been validated. If an entry is disqualified, the author will be PMed and may modify and resubmit the entry by the submission deadline. Using a beta is encouraged.
The Jury’s Verdict:
Entries will be narrowed down to the top 10 (or possibly more, depending on the number of submissions) through an open vote, and winners will then be chosen from this group by our judges.
The open vote will begin on November 1st 12:00 AM EDT and run through November 15th 11:59 PM EDT.
The judge’s selection will be anonymous – i.e. all identifying information (author, story title, etc.) will be removed from all entries before the judges see them.
In addition, a special winner will be chosen on Halloween (October 31st) by our special guest judge and the brains behind this contest, Jezzeria, for her choice of the scariest entry. Note: Entries are not required to be scary, only if you’d like to be in the running for this special prize

Write What You Know Contest - ends 10/31/09The idea is simple. Pick an event or setting from your life that is unusual or unique and write a fanfiction that takes place during that event or in that setting.
As an example, were I to enter the contest, my story would take place in the backstage world of a play. Bella would be a stage manager and Edward the arrogant lead actor who is constantly in the bathroom when he is supposed to be in his starting position. One of them would mention the Scottish Play by name onstage and have to walk around the building three times, spit over their left shoulder, knock and request to be let back into the theatre.
A not so good example would be to write a story based in high school. Sure, I've been there, but it isn't unusual or unique. Now, if I had organised a charity auction while in high school and my story took place during the auction, that would be fine.
RULES
1. Must be a Twilight fanfiction.
2. Your story must be between 5000 and 20,000 words. It does not have to be a one-shot.
3. There must be an unusual setting or occurance that you yourself have experienced!

Let’s heat things up before the snow and storms cool us down, with some one-shots featuring the sexy and delectable man who is the lovable Emmett. No longer the big brother you’ve always wanted, but the

UNF:
(a) A term used when an uncontrollable lust takes over and no words seem right enough for the moment.

Guidelines and Requirements:

Ahhh, that moment when we realize we are in love! It isn't always a bolt out of the blue, and it's not always a painful, humiliating realization as poor Emma's was. There are so many ways one realizes that love has found them...and that is what this contest is about.
Starfish422, mozzer0906 and Touchstone67 invite you to write a Twilight-based story about the moment a character realizes they are in love. Please note that this does not require a HEA or fluff - not all love ends with a happily ever after or is easy to realize.
The story must be an original one-shot - may not be an outtake from an existing story. The fic can be continued after the contest has ended, and you may make reference to this in you author's notes. Collaborations are accepted. There is no limit on the number of entries an author can submit. Each story is limited to 15,000 words, and we ask that you strive to remain within that limit.

There have been a deluge of contests and challenges in the TwiFic fandom recently. It seems like every time you turn around another one is being held. The variety and uniqueness of each contest/challenge increases with each new one. That’s great, it really is, but there are so many of them.
The purpose of this contest is to poke a little fun at ourselves. If you can’t laugh at yourself, then you’re doing something wrong. This is not a dig at any one contest or person. Please don’t be offended. It’s all in the name of good, clean (or not-so-clean), fandom fun!
Main challenge: Write a story including at least 4 of the themes listed below. Because this is all in good fun parody and crack!fic are encouraged, but all genre’s are welcome. If you can write a serious (non-parody/crack!fic) story using 4 of the themes...then we want to read it! Bring It!

- "Google It" Googleward – must include a geeky, nerdy, or dorky character (preferably Edward) as a main/spotlighted character.
- Age of Edward – must include Twilight characters in a historical setting.
- An Exploration of the Senses – must include or explore the use of 1 of the 5 senses; touch, taste, sight, hearing and smell.
- BDSM – must include BDSM or D/s theme or play.
- Cockteasing UST – must include teasing or UST-Unresolved Sexual Tension. (Smut is allowed, but no ah ‘completion’.)
- D.I.L.F - must include a ‘Dad I’d Like To Fuck’.
- Darkward/ In The Dark / Les Femmes Noires – must include a “Dark” character or overall theme.
- Dirty Talking Edward – must include a character dirty or naughty talking to titillate or arouse.
- Esme's Erotic Ecstasy – must include Esme as a main/spotlighted character and be shown a little love.
- Essence of Charlie Swan – must include Charlie as a main/spotlighted character.
- For the Love of Jasper – must include Jasper as a main/spotlighted character.
- Forbidden Love Affair – must include ar elationship between 2 characters that is taboo or forbidden.
- I Love 80's Music - must be based off of a song released in the 80’s.
- Love for the Unloved – must use a B-list/Side character as a main/spotlighted character.
- Love Through Lemons – must include smut/lemon that conveys the emotion of love without use of the word “Love” or any derivative.
- Off The Page – must include a plot/storyline/setting from a book, placing the Twilight characters into the world/setting.
- Once Upon a Twilight/ Mother Swan's Nursery Rhymes – must include a fairytale, nursery rhyme or children story like setting.
- Parkaward – must include a male character with foreskin, and said foreskin must play a part in the story.
- Pirate Talking – must include a character talking like a pirate.
- Role Reversal – must include a role reversal/switch of a canon character personality with another.
- Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy – must include a character that is a cow boy; rustler, rodeo star, rancher, bull rider, etc…
- Sort-Of Beautiful - must include Jacob as a main/spotlighted character.
- Steamy Movie Crossover – must include a plot/storyline/setting from a movie or TV show, placing the Twilight characters into the world/setting.
- Summer of Smut – story must be set during summer and include summertime activities.
- Tattward and Inkella – must include characters that have tattoo’s and/or piercing’s and uses them as a plot point/device.
- That Thing Called Love – show/express love for a loved one. (no smut allowed, kissing only!)
- The Kid – must include twilight characters as kids between the ages 1-17 as a main/spotlighted character.
- Twi-Slash: FemmeSlash – must include 2 female characters in a lesbian relationship.
- Twi-Slash: Polyslash – must include 3 or more characters in a polyamourous relationship.
- UNFmett – must include a Hawt! Emmett as a main/spotlighted character.
- When Love Was New – must include a moment a character realizes they are in love. (no smut of the penetrative variety allowed)
- Whodunit – must include a murder and mystery.
- Write What You Know – must include a true story that is unusual or unique from your own experiences.

Home for the Holidays - ends 11/15/09
Rules:
- Pairings must be non-canon-i.e. Jasper can’t be with Alice
- Any other pairing will do, including slash (this is encouraged)
- Word requirements are 2500-8000 words this DOES NOT include the AN or the Header, we will be checking to make sure you fall into the allotted word count.
- We request that all stories be beta'd. None of the darlins are allowed to beta for this contest so if by some chance on of the 9 of us are your beta's please check with Project Team Beta on live journal. they will be glad to help find a beta for you.
- Jasper must be the central character
- Lemons are not necessary but are strongly encouraged (bring on the smut!)
- Collabs are welcome-2 entries per person/collab
- If you are under 18, you will not be allowed to enter.
- We have the right to refuse any fics that don’t comply with the above rules. Grammar and punctuation are also important.
- PM the Darlin’s profile with the link to your story and we’ll add it to the C2
- May be an out take from a story but must also be able to stand alone. Can not be Anything submitted for a previous contest or be published before the start of the contest.
- Should you chose to continue the story we ask that you wait till after the contest has ended. continuing the story before the contest is over with disqualify you from the votes.
What are we looking for?
Jasper-centric WINTER holiday stories. Anything that plays with the season-it doesn’t have to be a specific holiday.
And smut! We mean Yule, Winter Soulstice, Christmas, Chunika, Kwanza and New Years and well as any other holiday that falls in the winter months. THIS DOES NOT MEAN VALENTINES DAY!
We will however not be allowing Rape, incest or any other type of story in which sexual acts are forced and or unwanted. Murder and other off limits topics will also not be allowed. If you have any questions about what is and isnt allowed please feel free to ask. we will be glad to explain it further.
Voting and details
Contest will begin on October 15th and we will be excepting submissions through November 15th. voting will begin on November 20th 2009 with winners announced on December 1st
We will be having 2 rounds. 1 public vote and 1 Darlins pick with 1 honorable Mention in the category of Best Naughty Jasper
