Jeanne - I have been reading fan fic for a LONG TIME! In all that time I have very few squicks/hard limits; my hard limit has always been Mpreg. Leave it to ArcadianMaggie to be the first person to be able to push past my hard limit. I love this story from start to finish. Love this different version of Jacob. Love her re-imagining of the Quileute legend. I especially love the relationship between Edward and Jacob. Just *SWOON*

Jess - This was probably one of the most interesting one-shots (hopefully more) that I’ve read. I loved the entire premise and the new take on shape-shifting. The mpreg, which I was VERY skeptical of going in (like so much so I actually read a bit and then was like... nah, I’m not sure I can go there, but then decided I really needed to give it a go) was so well done. Jacob and Edward’s relationship was so rich and beautiful. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but damn, I want more.

Jen - ArcadianMaggie is one of the best writers in the fandom, imo. Her writing is pure poetry, and this SBS entry is no exception. I love what she’s done with the shape-shifter legend- it just makes my heart sing. Edward/Jacob is my favorite slash pairing, especially when it’s wolf/vamp. The mpreg makes sense here, and I really really wanna see these two as daddies! Please, Maggie?!

Chele - This subject is such a hard sell for me as well, and I generally only accept it in fandoms where magic is involved, however, I never imagined the possibility of this kind of magic. It’s such a creative and amazing concept. This was absolutely beautiful, and I completely believed it. It blew my mind and captured my heart.

Jeanne - Yeah, so I basically read through most of Seylin’s fic in the span of a day. There’s is a lot there and it made me a very happy girl. This fic in particular reminded me of what I love about Edward and Jasper. Here we meet shy, photographer Edward meeting smooth, confidant cowboy Jasper. I was swooning, giggling and grinning through ever word of this fic. The sex is hot and sweet. It’s definitely worth the read.

Emmy - The pairing first drew me into this fic. It is not often that you see Carlisle and Seth paired together. A very interesting premise about denial, disappointment and heartbreak written. With some voyeur-style action thrown in. Written very well. We really feel what Seth feels. An angsty mix.

Chele - Excellent use of first person point of view. The desire and agony is palpable. It’s quick, it’s dirty and it’s desperate. I love this pairing and would really like to see more.

Jen - Appearances can be deceiving; what could mechanic Jake possibly have in common with Jaguar driving Dr. Cullen? Crazy chemistry, for one thing. Jake and Carlisle share similar tastes in all sorts of things (and I’m really not trying to be dirty here). So hot seeing them work out that chemistry and fall in love.

Jess - Carlisle again... FTW... and paired with Jake... as a mechanic... yeah, you get the idea. This was a nice read. It wasn’t heavy on the angst, and it was full of the normal back and forth one would expect in new and challenging relationships. Things between these two are freaking hot! Get in on it!

Teal - It may be hard to believe, but two or so years ago, you would have seen me approaching a poly fic like it was a bomb. I was skeered. Then slowly, very slowly, I found the rare but great fics that made it work, but they all had a common element: they were either M/M/F or F/F/M. That being said, when one of our Pervs nudged me in the direction of Our House , I had a little trouble swallowing how a relationship between four men could possibly work. Would this just be a smut-laced PWP? How could she pull it off?

Well, needless to say, I’m so glad that I gave it a chance. There is so much more to these characters than their penises and some stereotypical, never ending desire to get some. I was truly surprised by how deep NanaMun has delved into each of these characters. It all begins with Jacob noticing his new neighbors; not much time passes before he realizes that the three men living together are far from being roommates. They’re intimate and loving, and it’s not just limited to a pair of them. He finds it hard not to stare (or gawk in some cases), and his mind drifts to them quite often.

As friendships develop and Jacob becomes less guarded, he really gets to know Emmett, Jasper, and Edward. There are interactions with all of them, big and small, as well as the input about the others from each man. He learns more than he ever expected, and the individual and group dynamics they all share are truly fascinating to watch unfold.

What I really love about this story is that it give hopes for everyone to be much happier as Jacob slowly becomes an integral part of the group. Where there is fire between him and Emmett, there is tenderness with Edward and insight with Jasper. There’s no indication where the relationship(s) will go, emotionally or physically, but there is just so much potential and possibility that it’s impossible not to sit at the computer with your hands folded, praying to the writing muses that dear NanaMun will give us more soon. The sooner the better!

Emmy- I want to preface this recc by saying I haven’t read the new chapter that is BURNING a hole in my inbox yet because of ruddy work - and I needed to get this recc in.. So anything that happens in this chapter isn’t mentioned or alluded to in this recc...

I can’t remember what story of NanaMun ’s that I loved and led me to put her on author alert.. But I am so RUDDY glad that I did. As it meant that this baby landed in my lap from chapter one. I remember emailing the pack with a “GOOD LORDY, READ THIS” type email. Yes me a wussperv emailing round a recc for a Poly fic. Strange times eh?

Well no not really. I’ve always loved slash. And this is one of the best slash fics I have read in donkeys!!! Its sweet, sexy, tender and feels so real. Each dynamic, each pull, each thread and tangle in the lives and loves of this four feels so much. Makes me feel so much. Makes me yearn and tingle. Makes me want a love so ruddy big and intense...

Now some of you might just want a slash story for the sexing. For the lemony, sweet and salty sex. Well this fic has plenty of sexy moments (no real sex as of yet) but lots of hot wanking and honest to god UST and clinches.. Oh yes lots of clinches and passion. The imagery of these four and their interloping dynamics is wonderful. So plenty to keep the slags amongst us (me included) happy here...

But the characterisations and storyline is what makes this fic. I love that Jake takes centre stage, a vulnerable yet resilient and lonely Jake (sounds pretty canon eh?), and his match in Emmett - strong, protective, with shed-loads of love to give. The biggest heart around. Throw in a complex and sexy Jasper who has a fierce and determined passion and a very vulnerable Edward? Wowoow. Quite the potent cocktail. I especially like how this Edward is so very different from other Slash manifestations of Edward than I have read. He’s very off-canon. He’s vulnerable and needy, (wait! That sounds like canon after all!) but has none of the canon predator, obsessive, dominant qualities. Instead he is affectionate and then-some, he’s clingy, anxious, but very very sweet and very very loving, with a sexy demeanour and an irresistible pull. **Fans self** Edward in a fic is very important for me. He’s my fave character in all the series and he has to be appealing or well constructed no matter how central a role he has in a tale. So double thumbs up from me for NanaMun .

In short. I ADORE this fic. I love how its not neat and simple. Its like life, complex, messy, sweet and at times sad. The way life should be. Its also sexy and passionate as hell. Showing how life can be, how life shouldn’t just be shoved into a neat and tidy box that doesn’t fit those inside. Instead we can tailor our life so that it makes the most of us, and means the most to us. So that we can give the most to others and receive the most in return...

Read it. Its fabbio and one of my fave fics.

Chele - A polyamorous love story which involves Jacob, Emmett, Edward and Jasper? Is there ANYthing about this premise that I do not find awesome? No. It is completely made of win.

The only thing that makes it better is the execution of said premise, in which Jacob finds himself crushing on his neighbors across the street as he deduces that the trio of sexy men are all, in fact, in a relationship. Together. ZOMGSOFUCKINGHOT. The viewpoint from Jake’s observations lets me feel like a voyeur.

I couldn't help noticing how tightly Emmett's hands clenched the firm ass of the tanned blonde or how Jasper's fingers gripped and tugged on the short tendrils of Emmett's hair. I also couldn't dismiss a surging jealousy in my gut, but I really wasn't sure why it was even present.
"Boys," Edward scolded, "Guest."
"Mmm," Jasper moaned, when Emmett pressed against his ass, grinding the front of their jeans together. I felt my cheeks- my whole body- grow hot. I couldn't help imagining if that were me…

Thoughts of a writhing pile of four sexy bodies aside, this is, foremost, a story about emotions. I’m pleased that NanaMun takes time to deal with the mental weight the process of incorporating another person into an already established relationship can carry. There is care given to showing the reader the tenderness and passion that exists already, and how it ramps up when Jacob comes into the picture. Each character’s personality is fully flushed out, and each brings a unique perspective and complimentary charisma to the mix.

Our House is a beautiful, heart-squeezy and swoonworthy glimpse into polyamorous love of the four men kind. I’m not too shy to beg NanaMun for a few smutty outtakes to give us a glimpse of the beautiful, loving future of smutty possibility ahead of these four wonderful men.

Liz - I’m always down for slash fic, and poly slash is even better. What makes this fic such a great read to me is that NanaMun is taking her time to establish her characters as people, before just turning on the fuckpile. We see a little of how each of the primary trio ticks, what drew them together, what’s missing, and where exactly Jacob might fit as a 4th in an otherwise tight-knit relationship between Jasper, Edward and Emmett. We get glimpses of the passion they share early on, but just enough to keep the reader anxious for more, and feeling Jacob’s intense need to experience for himself a bond like what he sees between J, E and Em.

The potential for intense sexual chemistry between the four of them is insanely high, but just like in real life, the best things are worth the wait. I’m glad she took this scenario seriously enough to give them each a back story and personality, because sex with people you know is SO much better than.... oh, who am i kidding? FOUR hot guys, all aching for each other? It’s a no-brainer.

Emmett. So easy to love. Especially when we’ve been given this delicious image to accompany our mental picture of him:

“One was big - muscled like a serious weight lifter, with dark, curly hair.” “..painted by an old master as the face of an angel.” (Twilight pg 18/19)

Canon Emmett. Our initial impression of him through Bella’s eyes is a bit intimidating. He’s huge (twss), and he doesn’t at all appear to be a high school student. Hell, even Charlie is wary of him when he thinks that’s which Cullen boy Bella is hanging out with. He has muscles stacked on top of muscles, the most gorgeous girlfriend in the entire world, and he’s utterly beautiful. Umm, yes please. And in other words, he’s all man.


So fucking manly that a bear was the only thing that could take him down. Fuck yeah.
See what we mean? Rawr.

We did get to know Emmett a little better as the Twi series progressed, and aside from learning that he was a house-breaker (again, rawr), we saw a protector, a man who wasn’t afraid to put his life on the line for the sake of the people he loved or even the principle of right and wrong. We also learned that he had a softer, more teddy bear-like side at times. Oh yeah, there was also that scene where he had the run in with Paul (a moment that just SCREAMED slash to us).

Our deep, overly-enthusiastic love of Emmett is not unknown , but now we’re getting down to the srs bsns.

Why Big Gay Emmett? Why, when he is such a big, strong sex symbol, do we like to see him loving the cock?

Uhh, why the fuck not?

The very fact that Emmett is the opposite of every gay stereotype and so unlike Edward and Jasper (the obvious and most commonly used slash pairing) is what makes him soooooo delicious and UNF-worthy when paired with another boy (or boys!). He’s the perfect balance of physical and emotional strength, though he isn’t afraid to be tender and vulnerable. Un-fucking-resistable.

That being said, let’s dig in and take a look at some very tasty Big Gay Emmett. (Or in some cases, Big Experimental Emmett. We’re down with that, too.)

One of the first stories we read that gave us a little Emmett slashy goodness was Tuesday Night Poker Club by LauraACullen. Reading that level of hotness completely opened the world for us to Emmett getting a little guy action. Okay, it was a bit like Pandora’s Box.

Emmett’s Gay?
Sometimes it hits like a revelation. He doesn’t hide it, but the entire world assumes based on his countenance that he’s waist-deep in pussy. Turns out, not so much. Emmett is that guy that you’d never know was gay until he told you, and even those who crush on him need to have it spelled out for them.
In Red Corvette, Jasper is a little emo, and a lot attracted to the very popular, very masculine Emmett. The way that hexumhunnie311 uses Jasper’s POV to describe Emmett, we fall in love with him a little too, although he seems completely out of reach. We may have screamed like lovesick tweens when we found out that Emmett’s proclivities were not necessarily set in stone.

Emmett the Athlete: Because of his build, a common occupation for our dear Emmett is in the field of athletics. A major appeal to Emmett slash is the opportunity for the author to push through the typical stereotypes attributed to men of size and strength. No one wants to have sex with a brainless jock whose intellect is limited to dick and fart jokes (though, sadly, we too often see heterosexual Emmett written this way). If he’s an athlete, it does not exclude him from having depth. Even when he exhibits tenderness, there is a heady masculinity present. Rugbymett Anyone? Yes, fucking, please. (Maybe even a little Lacrossemett in honor of Kellan’s stint on 90210... Just saying...)

Rosmarina accomplishes this in Potential. Emmett is a decathalete, (holy ten sports of hotness.) He and Edward fall for each other while Edward is writing an article for the school paper. Emmett is so brave and bold in his willingness to come out, officially, for Edward’s story, but it is his articulate nature, in addition to his physique, that Edward is drawn to. Emmett doesn’t take this step to impress Edward, rather, he does it for himself, and to provide support and solidarity to other student athletes who may be experiencing isolation. Rosemarina really captures the excitement of young love, and the pressure to perform and conform in an environment of competitive collegiate sports.

Another good example is Tight End by Lipsmacked. Emmett is a professional football player, who meets Jake when he goes to have a gift (an SUV) for his friend Rose customized. Both professional men choose to live a life of discretion, but that doesn’t stop them from finding a connection on their first meeting. From there it’s a clash of pure muscle and emotion.

The Emmett Next Door:
Sometimes Emmett is just so fucking perfect you ache for him to get the guy, after you get over mourning that you’re not his type.

These tend to be character-driven stories and they really give us some incredibly appealing Emmett. I’m Listening was an entry in the In the Closet Closet contest. Emmett volunteers at a crisis prevention hotline. He describes the path he traveled from needing help himself after a break-up that left him feeling desperate and without hope, to trying to give that support back to others once he is in a better place in life. The depth of his relationship with his friend Carlisle, shows us so much about his capacity for love and desire for community. Conversed allows the reader to feel the full range of emotions from Emmett’s point of view, from the despair of loss, to the elation of physical and emotional connection with his new love, Jacob.

In our experience, that emotional connection is highly underrepresented in slashfic. Often in their rush to the erotic, writer’s bypass the potential for a greater intensity through the slow build. However, if you’re a PPSS Team Slash fan, then you’ll remember our recent review of artbeatsandlife’s The City, which featured a tasty professional Emmett and his sweet and spicy new relationship with Paul, who just so happens to be a boxer. The way Emmett describes Paul the first time he sees him, all sexified with a black eye, tattoos, and a body you can’t tear your eyes away from is just...so...fucking...hot. In this fic, Emmett is sweet and vulnerable, but no less manly. This story is total slash fluff-smut, and we guarantee you will love it, even if you’ve never read any Pack stories! No angst here, just a little bit of drama, and a lot of yum. Straight up yum.

If you’re looking for some even fluffier Emmett slash, Whitlock-Masen (better known to some as the collab team of Naelany and SorceressCirce) really nailed it with Every Day, Forever. Honestly, neither of us can think of anything we’ve ever read that is this sticky sweet, especially in the slash genre. To make it revolve around a bold and sexy Emmett is even better! As Edward reminisces about how he and Emmett met unexpectedly in college, began to date, and how their relationship progressed, Emmett is secretly plotting a candy coated treat for the man he loves. Totally adorbs. It was so sweet we may have thrown up in our mouths a little. We mean that in the good way!

Flexible Emmett:
In a world that’s always trying to fit people into tiny, clearly defined boxes of sexuality, we can appreciate an Emmett who is receptive to the possibility of love wherever he finds it. We want him out of the closet, and out of the box.

Emmett who is so comfortable in his sexuality that he’s open to the love of a man and/or a woman? Perfect.

In FiberKitty’s Snapshots in Polyamory, Emmett is a pillar of strength in his relationship. The story follows the introduction and joining of two couples, Emmett and Rose and Edward and Bella. While not a very graphic or smutty exploration, this showcases all the right things about Emmett’s canon personality: his openness, stability, dependability, and incomparable allure. When Edward is on the verge of losing himself while caught up in the powerful emotions around the changes in their relationship, Emmett anchors him (by holding tight to him in the shower) and calms Edward’s raging storm of emotions. Because that’s what Emmett does.

DellaTerra also does a brilliant job of showcasing Emmett’s open, free spirited and loving personality in Forever Young. It was one very few AU stories that we found in our research, and it’s really quite special.

First of all, this Emmett is a submissive. Sign me the fuck up for that. With Rosalie as his unabashed and badass Domme, we see a delightful new side of both pictures. Then Edward, the nosey next door neighbor, comes over to complain about the noise and his entire world is rocked. That’s where Emmett steps up to bat for the other team and ends up on the receiving end of a surprisingly fuckhot - while also somewhat unexpected - handjob. The best part is that you know there will be more Emmett/Edward action in their future. Now let’s all get over to her page and BEG DirtyBrat to write more of this story!

Where there was so much room for SMeyer to create an incredibly intriguing character and expand upon his unknown background, we got nothing. ::sad panda::
However, this leaves the possibilities wide open to giving him to rich and varied experiences and entanglements that he deserves.

Emmett’s canon openness and enthusiastic personality makes it so easy to imagine him with a fluid sexuality, and boy are we glad we’re not alone in seeing that potential. There were some things we didn’t see a lot of in our researching all things Gaymett, so there is still a plethora of uncharted territory to be explored. We’d love to see some more AU Vamp, Fire and Ice, Nerdmett Dragmett.....the list goes on and on. We’re sure they’re out there, but apparently not in sufficient numbers to show up on our radar.
