I think it’s well established I am totally a canon girl first and foremost, even if I have been pushing my limits. I LOVED the idea of diving in to this story when Jeanne brought it to us! I adore the characters of Jasper and Alice and think there is so much possibility with these characters whether it’s AU or AH. NinaQ’s has such a talent of telling a story without too much detail. The flow is flawless, really keeps a great pace, and kept me glued to my screen. The level of UST blew me away, and the tension between the characters from the start is palpable.
He stopped in front of her. She clenched her hands into fists to keep from reaching out to touch him, and it occurred to her that she might have a self-destructive streak. Why else would it be so hard to keep her hands to herself?
"I'm no expert, but I can see you need so much more than he'll give you." Jasper was close enough that she could see his face. His eyes were dark. His gaze focused on her eyes, then shifted to her lips.
"He wouldn't do it. How about I help you with that goodnight kiss? Just so you know what you're missing?" His words were teasing, but his body was serious. One hand moved to rest on her arm, and the other cupped her cheek. His hands were warm against her cool skin.
"I suppose you're just the man to give me this lesson?" Her breathing was coming in short gasps, and she felt lightheaded. She could smell his cologne and see the faint stubble on his cheek.
"This is not a good idea, but we're going to have a lesson anyway. I think you need it, and I'm all about helping my friends." He lowered his mouth to hers. The approach was slow. She saw him coming and had the chance to stop him. Without conscious thought, she closed her eyes, rose on her tiptoes, and met his mouth with hers.
The first touch was a tentative stroking to explore terrain. Her mouth opened a fraction of an inch, and that tiny invitation was all he needed. His lips pressed harder, and his tongue eased in to move against hers. He tasted of mint and wine. Heat shot through her limbs.
His hand moved from her arm around her back, pulling her against his chest. His hips pressed firmly against her. Liquid warmth flowed into her belly. Alice heard a low moan come from deep in his throat.
She opened her mouth wider, and his teeth tugged at her bottom lip. His hand moved from her cheek into her hair and tugged her head back. What started as a whimper turned into a moan as his soft lips traced kisses across her cheek before tugging gently on her ear. She raked a hand into his hair, keeping him close. The scent of him surrounded her and made her head swim.
"That's it, darling," he whispered just before his lips and tongue ran a trail of fire down her neck. Her knees were weak and she realized she was panting. He pressed one knee between hers, and she could feel his erection pressing against her stomach.
Like a bucket of cold water, the front door opened, spilling light and sound into the dark. He stepped back, resting his forehead on hers. With a ragged breath he whispered, "Sweetheart, that is what goodbye should look like."
What really drew me in and kept my attention was the style that NinaQ uses. Each chapter represents a new encounter with Alice and Jasper over the years. We see how Alice grows from a wide-eyed innocent girl fresh out of high school to a confident adult woman. The growth of characters, even the supporting ones, is so believable and lends to terrific sub plots. She just posted a great outtake of Emmett that I adored. This story is almost complete with just a two part Epi to go, and I have to say it’s a love story that will stay with me. There’s nothing better to me than a sexy sweet story of love and overcoming your own fears to accept that love, and this story delivers on all that. Make sure to leave her some love!

Trust me when I say that no one is more surprised than ME that I’m hopping on a Team WussPerv post, but Simple Mistakes isn’t a typical WussPerv fic. For starters it features Alice and Jasper center stage of this romantic story, though the other canon couples are there, as well. These two are not just exaggerated versions of their canon traits placed in human bodies. Here we have fully realized, living and breathing people. Both fabulously flawed and very easy to fall in love with.
This is the kind of guy that doesn’t just stop you in your tracks, he tears out the fucking undercarriage and leaves you walking funny for a fucking week. Oh yeah! Jasper is a bit of a bad boy, and an insufferable flirt. This boy has moves like the fucking devil, and he uses them to leave Alice (and us) tongue tied and panting.
Half the fun of this story is watching the eye-crossingly intense UST between Alice and Jasper build over the course of the story, and when it finally erupts I need a good break to catch my breath. It is that good. In fact, when I recommended this fic to the girls I included a section of one of the sex scenes (see the quote in Jen’s rec below *wink*), and it worked for a reason.
I got sucked into their story and lives from the second I started reading. It didn’t stop when I reached the end. I got lost in the story, fell in love with the characters and wanted to quote half the dialogue on Twitter.
"Alice, would you rather spend a month of your life living spontaneously or make a bad decision that gives you a good memory?"
How does someone answer an incredibly flirty, fantastic and frightening question like this? Well, I’ll let you read about how Alice answers. However, I will say that while she gives one answer, but as the story goes on she shows a completely different answer. Cryptic? Yes I am, so you better read to find out.

As I said a few weeks ago in the Lemon Report, I rarely read Alice/Jasper fic. I love the characters as individuals and as a couple, but for some reason I generally am reluctant to read an A/J focused story. But when Jeanne comes flailing about a canon pairing, well, you check it out. Simple Mistakes is a sexy, wonderfully written fic. I couldn’t put it down after starting the first chapter.
Jasper, a college friend of Emmett and Edward, meets Alice when the boys bring him to their home for little sister’s high school graduation party. They’re physically attracted to one another, but the sparks really start flying when they talk to one another. Alice is a girl with a Plan, and Jasper needles her about letting go of plans in favor of a leading a spontaneous life. This pattern continues over a couple of years as Jasper continues to attend Cullen family celebrations. I’m talking nuclear reactor level UST. NinaQ’s Jasper is a delightfully cocky sonofabitch. With lines like "Not that we couldn't find things to do inside," he said in a husky, teasing voice. and With a ragged breath he whispered, "Sweetheart, that is what goodbye should look like." it’s no wonder that Alice’s body reacts to his proximity. But, she’s a girl with a plan, and she carries on with it, despite what her body might like to do with and to Jasper’s.
When they can’t take the UST anymore, they are as hot together as anticipated.
Rising on her elbows, Alice watched as his hands moved up her legs. His gaze flicked between her eyes and the scrap of satin covering her. As he moved closer, he placed slow kisses along the insides of her thighs. Her breathing raced and she had to bite her lip to keep quiet when his mouth finally touched her heat. She heard him groan.
Again, he sent a single finger to taunt her, pulling her panties aside and gently stroking her swollen lips. Over and over, it circled and lowered to tease her entrance. He brought up both hands and pulled her panties off swiftly. His eyes rose to hers and then lowered as he again bent those last few inches.
At the first stroke of his tongue across her entrance, her hips jerked off the bed. This was like nothing she'd ever experienced before. Her heart was racing, and tension was building. His mouth moved up and he slid a finger slowly into her. Circling with his tongue, he began flicking it quickly against her bundle of nerves.
She whimpered when a second finger joined the first. He stroked her quickly, humming against her tender flesh. Panting from the sensations, her skin began to flush. When he grazed her with his teeth, stars exploded behind her eyes. He slowly licked and teased until her contractions subsided.
Unf! But things get complicated the very next morning, and what Alice had hoped would develop into a real relationship falls apart before it can even get started. There are some great twists and turns revealed as the story continues, but I’ll let you discover them as you read.NinaQ tantalizes and teases us throughout the story. It stars in the present, then flashes back to when Alice and Jasper first meet. The remaining chapters work their way back to the present, and the format works so perfectly for the story. I love how she’s written both Alice and Jasper, and seeing their journey through to the end is so satisfying (twss).
Even if Edward and Bella is your normal fic drink of choice, give Simple Mistakes and NinaQ’s lovely writing a try--I guarantee it won’t be a mistake of any sort.

Jen really said it. This story is a true delight. It’s easy to read, and the characters are absolutely delicious. Alice has her whole life plotted out. She’s a woman on a mission, and she isn’t going to be stopped... especially not by a cocky as hell guy, Jasper, who makes her (and me) feels all sorts of unexpected things.
For years, these two shove things aside, and on one fateful night, they give in. And good grief that giving in is SO worth the wait. The UST leading of all the random moments throughout the years have built and built, and BAM! when they finally get there, it’s amazing.
"So that's what we are? Friends?" she asked, incredulous. He was so very close, and as she inhaled, she could smell his scent; it was a heady mix of cologne, peppermint and brandy. It suited him.
"It's as good a definition as any other, don't you think?" he whispered into her ear, his head bent low.
She laughed nervously. "Remind me of that the next time a friend kisses me goodnight."
"As long as I'm the one kissing you goodnight, it's fine." His breath was hot in her ear.
She gasped at the sensation. Alice felt her nipples harden with desire and she resisted the urge to push her breasts against him. When he pulled back, she wanted to reach out and drag him back to her; her knuckles went white with the effort to stay in place.
"As much as I'd like to continue this, your mother was looking for you. She wants to introduce you to the son of ... someone or other. It's sweet that she's trying to fix you up. Too bad it's a wasted effort." He placed a single kiss on her throat and stepped back a few feet.
Cue the moments of self-discovery on both their parts, and you have an awesome story of rebounding love that is desperate to make it. Fill in the gaps with some awesome time spent at a bar and great banter, and you have a fic that is TOTALLY made of win. Seriously, even if Alice/Jasper isn’t your norm, give this one a go. It’s heartwarming, original, and a true, true delight.
TealOH HAI, JASPER.
I loves him to pieces, and while I tend to lean toward Jasper/Bella in AH stories, there is just something special about this fic that had me hooked from the beginning. I think part of it was that this Alice didn’t fall into the stereotypes. Yes, SM created the pixie, spaz that we all know so well (and who’s been exaggerated and abused in fanfic), but it’s refreshing to see her written as the heroine of this little roller coaster love story. Alice is independent, interesting, funny, and strong-willed. That’s why she makes a formidable opponent and great match for this flirtatious, oh-so-dudeish Jasper. While he really does put his foot in his own mouth in this fic, there’s a lot to be said for redemption!
And don’t let me leave out one of the best parts - the first hookup! Holy hot damn! Now that is what I call a well-deserved release to some serious UST! It was so great because it came after several years of playful encounters and the time and opportunity for both characters to mature. Both characters were so sexy, and I just may have gone back and read this scene over again. I’m am seriously itching for more, and I truly hope we’ll get at least a few more chapters of sexytimes before this one is over!We know good Jasper/Alice is hard to come by, so that’s why we’re telling you to get on this one ASAP! It’s fun, hot, and a can’t-stop read!
