I struggle with Emmett fics, for the simple reason that he reminds me of my own brother, especially in the films. So I always have to do a major disconnect when I read them, which can often interfere with enjoying the story. But this story, breaks through all the fandom Rosalie cliches so well I just had to get all caught up in it!! I think almost every AH Rosalie I have read takes the beauty queen stereotype to the letter or even polarises it. Any layers to Rosalie stem from maintaining that ice queen/beauty queen crown aka amphetamines, eating-disorders, addictions, isolation, bitchyness etc etc. Do a Rosalie checklist for the last AH you read, chances are it contained at least 2 of the above. (But hey, if it didn’t? Can you let us know of it please!). So, this Rosalie is a breath of fresh air. Instead we have the canon qualities of strength, loyalty, bravery and deep love for those she cares about. It’s that first quality of strength that epitomises this Rosalie for me.
She has the strength to be all woman, to be able to keep up with Emmett, and to give Emmett exactly what he needs emotionally, and oh woah, physically as well! Their sexual connection and chemistry is intense and powerful. Emmett gets to indulge and sate every urge and find pleasure in Rosalie's strength and warmth he never knew existed. He worships her, and she completes him. Pretty good balance I think. This is not another of those AH fics, where Rosalie makes Emmett run around after her like an eager and boring puppy. Together they just are better. And to read about physical worship like theirs? Yum, yum, yum. So go on! You must read this fic. It’s so cute, has great characters, it's happy and intense, and has killer sex and passion. Everyone needs an Emmett to confirm their true worth. And reading about this Emmett, helps us to see our own sex appeal and value. Let someone love and adore you for WHO you ARE.
For those of you who are feeling less than excited about a non-Edward/Bella story, let me encourage you to read this one. It’s a great way to explore other characters in a safe, canon way. Shop Woman gives us a glimpse into all the characters we know and love in a fun, light-hearted way. Each of the secondary characters play a critical role, and ... and Zhivago3 does a great job of really making them all click and pop!
So, with that business out of the way, are you ready for some fun?
Emmett, as I mentioned above, is quite wealthy and constantly finds himself on dates with women with whom his mother has set him up, and while there’s lots of lovin’ (implied, not stated) it’s clearly lacking. But after a chance encounter with Rose - in a corset that she totally rocks - he can’t get her out of his head. He goes from aloof, bored socialite to horny as hell pursuer of all things Rose.
The story starts with him in the bathroom at an upscale restaurant taking matters into his own hands. Literally.
As he palmed his shaft, he leaned against the door and started pumping up and down. That it was his third time that day didn't faze him, that it was his fourteenth time in the past three days? Well now, that was something. He hadn't jerked off this much since he was in high school.
He threw his head back and in his mind, focused on a pair of lusciously, bouncy tits. With every step she took, they quivered and jiggled pleasingly. Shit, they looked so soft, so fucking touchable. His balls were tight beneath the fabric of his boxers. His tip was wet and sticky thinking about the way her broad shoulders gave way to her long arms. Emmett is so adorable and loving in this story. I wanted to snuggle him and his adoring ways.
Watching Rose and Em together is pure fun. He loves her soft, sensual curves and her fiery personality. And to be honest, that’s one of the things I love about this story. Rose is not one-dimensional (in fact, none of the characters - primary or secondary - are) like we typically see in a lot of stories. Yes, she has some of the aloof/cool and fiery bitch we love, but so, so much more. Here’s a couple glimpses - through Emmett’s eyes.
The fire this woman has, he thought as he took in her overly passionate words. The fire, the beauty, the body, the way her pussy sucked his cock in for more and more... the colors of her world. It was all so right. So absolutely right for him.
"But...""Fuck it. I love you, Rose."
She was dumbstruck and silent... but only for a moment.
He didn't know much about her yet, but he knew she was a bitch to the outside world. He knew she was sharp-tongued and tough. He also knew, instinctively, that he was the only man who had ever torn away at her hard layer and made her blush, made her unsure.
"No 'buts,' sexy; I love you. Deal with it."
He didn't care if she didn't say it back right away; she would eventually.
She is fiercely protective, loves her family, and more importantly, loves Emmett. She isn’t all lovey dovey; she is perfectly, simply, Rose.

As they kissed in the front hall, Rose knew that the important decisions had already been made. No matter what, she was marrying Emmett. Together, one way or another, they were going to have a gaggle of kids. Those kids would be raised in the city along with their cousins; stupid Brady Bunch themed visions danced through her head. The rest - her business to be exact - would work itself out, after all, her family promised it would.
Everything about these two is intense, hot, full of passion, over the top, and so perfectly them... and that’s the difference.
Shop Woman is one of those stories that’s easy to read and full of hot sexy times. Better yet, it gives us an important glimpse into what the other characters in this Twiverse might be like, and in doing so, makes them more robust in other stories (at least that’s how it always works for me). Pure fun! Pure canon! Pure wussperv!

I love the way that Emmett’s preference for Rose’s fuller figure is highlighted by his initial dissatisfaction with his previous lovers. I couldn’t help but be reminded of stories I’ve read when a character discovers his/her sexual preference on the heels of dissatisfaction and deep seeded desire for something.....more. I appreciate Zhivago3’s portrayal of preference this way, and even more so, her portrayal of Emmett’s embracing this discovery of himself. The natural blending into his life and the lack of drama around it. He loves her and is so happy with the level of satisfaction, both physical and emotional, that she brings to his life. Her size is only ever seen as a positive. It made me so very happy.
Rose’s positive self view also adds a bit of awesome. She’s a woman who’s built a life for herself and doesn’t need anyone to complete it. Emmett is so special, because she wasn’t missing anything, and yet he completes her. Throw in a supportive, if bitchy, best friend Jake, the full cast of Cullens, a healthy dose of whirlwind romance, and two people who can’t keep their hands off each other? I’m sold!Angst lovers beware, this fic is sweet enough to give you a toothache, and fluffy enough to rival a basket of bunnies. It is a story of love and dedication, and the joy two people can have when they find their true match. If you need some positivity and a lot of smut in your reading repertoire, look no further than Shop Woman.
